Through cultural events, language programs, and community gatherings, Terai Samaj has been fostering unity and preserving our traditions. From organizing Chhath Puja celebrations to running youth language classes, we focus on building a strong community that honors its roots while thriving in a new homeland. Together, we celebrate what makes us unique while embracing our shared journey.
Terai Samaj is a community organization founded by passionate individuals from the Terai (Madhesh) region of Nepal, now residing in Australia. We are a diverse group united by our shared heritage, speaking languages like Maithili, Bhojpuri, and Tharu. Our organization serves as a cultural bridge, connecting community members across generations and helping preserve the traditions that define us. Whether you're a first-generation immigrant or born in Australia, Terai Samaj welcomes all who wish to celebrate and preserve our rich cultural heritage.
We organize cultural events and festival celebrations including Chhath Puja, Holi, Maghi, and Sama Chakeva. We run language classes to teach Maithili, Bhojpuri, and other Terai languages to younger generations. Our community programs include youth engagement activities, cultural workshops, and networking events. We provide support to new members of our community, helping them settle and connect with others who share their background. Through all these activities, we strive to keep our traditions alive while building a strong, supportive community in Australia.
